Raising Wildflowers

"In a field of roses, I am a wildflower."

There are many styles of parenting, I like to think of my children like wildflowers. Many people think wildflowers grow easily, but as everything in this world, it requires hard work, dedication, needs plenty of attention and patience.
They may not bloom within the first few years, but when they do it's such a remarkable sight. We will take so much pride and comfort in knowing, we did something right. Wildflowers are known for being resilient and adaptable. Once you've laid a good solid, foundation and nurtured them in a way that they need, they will not only thrive in harsh environmental conditions, they will OUTSHINE!
Some parents are heavily involved in their children's lives. A schedule filled with school, tutoring, piano lessons, swimming lessons, and more. Just as a gardener who cultivates the perfect flowerbed with thoughtful and careful planning, watering and weeding the soil. They trim and prune their children into a shape that they think will lead them to a path of success.
Children need room to grow freely, explore their environment, and discover their own uniqueness. Not to be overwhelmed and pressured to grow into the garden that we envision. They need opportunity for free play and imagination that allow them to make deep and meaningful connections with the world around.
We need to recognise and allow that they make the world beautiful simply by being themselves.
